Our phonics teaching follows the programme set out in the DfE publication 'Letters and Sounds' (see link below). We also add in some of the actions from 'Jolly phonics' to help children remember the phonemes (see link below).
Throughout school we encourage the use of phoneme mats to help children identify and remember different sounds. You can follow the links to download these for use at home. These mats are also in the school reading diaries along with important information about how to help with phonics at home.
Your child should also have a 'High Frequency Word Book' or 'Bear Words' book (if they are in F2) which also contains important information on how to help with phonics.
F2 and Y1 also hold meetings at the beginning of the year to explain how we teach phonics in school and how parents and carers can help at home.
