DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging
At Butlers Hill Infant School, we believe that every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and given the knowledge to succeed. Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) is at the heart of everything we do. We celebrate the uniqueness and backgrounds of everyone within our school community and dedicate ourselves to making all children feel a sense of belonging.
Our approach is underpinned by clear Equality Objectives, aligned with the Equality Act 2010, which guide our work to challenge discrimination and provide equitable opportunities for every child to thrive.
At Butlers Hill, inclusion is not just a principle, it is embedded in our daily practice. Through our curriculum, assemblies and wider school experiences, we actively promote British Values and teach pupils about protected characteristics, helping them to understand, respect and celebrate differences in the world around them.
We are proud of the progress we are making on our DEIB journey. Through initiatives such as our No Outsiders assemblies, inclusive displays and diverse reading materials that act as both ‘windows and mirrors,’ we are building a culture where every child feels represented and respected. Our RE syllabus also helps us to explore different cultural beliefs and celebrations, which mean something to lots of families in our school.
Together we work hard with the children to foster our school values; caring, confident, creative, alongside respect, resilience and responsibility.
