Lighthouse Classroom
What is the EPU?
The EPU is a bespoke provision, in the heart of the school for Key Stage 1 pupils, with Communication and Interaction needs.
A practical, hands on, approach facilitates teaching and learning. Supplemented by continuous provision.
Primarily in the mornings the curriculum covers Phonics, English and Maths.
In the afternoons the focus shifts to the foundation subjects with forest school and Nurture interwoven.
Placements would be time limited, target specific, leading to full, carefully planned inclusion into their home school. The style and location of learning would be needs led to develop independence, build confidence, and ensure positive outcomes both socially and academically.
The core purpose of the EPU is to complement and supplement good inclusive practice in a child’s home school. Therefore, the child will be possibly receiving AFN funding and/ or raised at Springboard, following a graduated response.
