Welcome to our Governors’ section. 

The role of the Governing Body is to be a “critical friend”, providing strategic direction and policy for the school.  The Headteacher, supported by the school’s Senior Leadership Team, is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the school, with the governing body offering support and challenge.

The Governing Body meets once a term, with various committee meetings as often as necessary.  The Chair of Governors is Mr. Philip Kiddy

Governors receive no remuneration for their work, but most find it personally fulfilling. They are proud to serve the school and are committed to providing the best environment for the children to learn, have fun and feel safe.

The Governing Body works in close partnership with the  Head, Deputy head, staff and the local authority. Whilst the Head is, of course, responsible for the day to day running of the school, the governors are involved with such things as staffing, curriculum, school buildings and finance. It ensures the school functions well and maintains the proper range of academic and social objectives.

 The composition of the present governing body, under the 2012 School Governance Regulations, consists of:

• The Head Teacher
• Deputy Head Teacher
• One elected staff governor
• Two elected parent governors
• One appointed local authority governor-
• Seven co-opted governors

The standard term of office for a governor is four years. The chair and vice-chair are elected annually at the first meeting of the academic year. We currently have no vacencies
